Will The EV-Everywhere Challenge Be More of a Challenge Than a Reality?
As of late, President Obama launched a program called EV-Everywhere Challenge. This is an attempt to bring everyone together (scientists, business leaders, government and engineers) to develop an infrastructure and market for a robust electric vehicle market in ten (10) years.
So after reading the press release, it was quite obvious that this is an effort to try and bring all the players together. However, it is not seemed to be a realistic approach to developing an electric vehicle structure for the United States.
While Secretary Chu and the Obama Administration wishes this to be a reality, there are multiple obstacles to letting this occur.

MOEX Offshore Agrees to $90 Million Partial Settlement of Liability in Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
WASHINGTON – MOEX Offshore 2007 LLC has agreed to settle its liability in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in a settlement with the United States valued at million, announced the Department of Justice, the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today. Approximately million of the million settlement is going directly to the Gulf in the form of penalties or expedited environmental projects.
According to the terms of the settlement, MOEX will pay million in civil penalties to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Water Act resulting from the spill and agreed to spend million to facilitate land acquisition projects in several Gulf states that will preserve and protect in perpetuity habitat and resources important to water quality and other environmental features of the Gulf of Mexico region. At the time of the spill, MOEX was a minority investor in the lease for the Macondo well. It no longer owns any share of the lease.
The terms of today’s settlement do not affect the potential liability of – or recoveries from – other parties involved in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Exercise will Profit you Tremendously in Retirement
There are lots of old folks around you who are already in retirement, some who are about to kick it in, and others who are only just about to retire. They sure have stories to tell, you know. Now is the smartest time to talk to them about retirement. They’ll tell you things you never would have thought of otherwise, and these things will help you prepare. Remember them.
A fun exercise that has fantastic aerobic value is riding a stand up paddle board
It is easy to get into that relaxation mode for retirement that a lot of people do within the first few months that they don’t have to hurry off to work again; but that feeling is dangerous to your health. Hate to read so melodramatic, but it’s real. Physical and mentally, you want to see that you still get a lot of action. Do whatever it takes to make that happen. To plan for your retirement, the first major step is to map out what you want to achieve. You could do this by listing everything down, consider where you would want to stay, what you would want to do and so on. This will help you have a focus
You wouldn’t be the first to retire, and you wouldn’t be the first to make a botch of it either. Or would you be one of the smart few, who would plan well and get to love their retirement? Your call.
A low fitness level is something that plagues a lot of old folks in retirement in the United States, and indeed across the surface of the globe. Certainly the old folks don’t like it too much either, but they must have done something wrong to get there in the first place. That is the something that I have come here to warn you off of: lack of exercise. Don’t do the same.
Don’t be one of those who sit’s down in old age – learn to ride a stand up paddle board and reap the rewards both physically and also emotionally. An inflatable stand up paddle board is ideal if you intend travelling as it does not take up much space when space is a premium.
You shouldn’t just resign yourself to nothing simply because you’re retired. You should find something doing, and it does not matter how simple or little that thing may seem. You’d be surprised that it’d keep you on point and help you appreciate yourself more in those declining years. Honest; you need it.

WASHINGTON, DC – At an event today in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced the 20 collegiate teams selected to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and unveiled the competition’s location, the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. The 20 teams from colleges and universities across the United States and from around the world will now begin a two-year process to build solar-powered, highly energy-efficient homes that combine affordability, consumer appeal and design excellence. Throughout the two-year process, the teams will design, construct and test their homes before reassembling them at the Solar Decathlon 2013 competition site. As part of the Solar Decathlon, teams compete in ten different categories – ranging from best architecture and engineering to energy production for heating and cooling – while gaining invaluable real-world experience in a growing global industry.
“As President Obama made clear in the State of the Union address this week, we need to ensure that the next generation of America’s architects, engineers and entrepreneurs have the hands-on experience and training they need to lead our nation’s clean energy future,” said Secretary Chu. “The Solar Decathlon will unleash the ingenuity, creativity and drive from these talented students to demonstrate new ideas for how families and businesses can reduce energy use and save money with clean energy products and efficient building design.”

Everyone knows that laughter is good for you. Studies suggest it can buffer stress and increase your resistance to disease. Also, it just feels great to laugh. Advertisers have long used the allure of laughter to sell their products, and many Americans tune in to the Super Bowl just to chuckle at the funny commercials. However, when it comes to selling people on smart energy solutions, it could be hard to find a punch line. Could using humor as a marketing strategy make energy efficiency a bit more digestible?
Energy Impact Illinois, a grant recipient of the Energy Department’s Better Buildings Neighborhood Program (BBNP), is trying to find the funny in energy efficiency. The goal? Communicate the benefits of home energy upgrades and motivate local residents to take action in improving their buildings. The program has enlisted two comedians from Second City, a comedy theatre whose alumni include Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Murray to play “The Energy Bills,” friends who visit Chicago area homes distributing energy saving tips.

The Department of Defense (DoD) could generate 7,000 megawatts (MW) of solar energy—equivalent to the output of seven nuclear power plants—on four military bases located in the California desert, according to a study released today by DoD’s Office of Installations and Environment. The year-long study, conducted by the consultancy ICF International, looked at seven military bases in California and two in Nevada. It finds that, even though 96 percent of the surface area of the nine bases is unsuited for solar development because of military use, endangered species and other factors, the solar-compatible area is nevertheless large enough to generate more than 30 times the electricity consumed by the California bases, or about 25 percent of the renewable energy that the State of California is requiring utilities to use by 2015.
DoD is seeking to develop solar, wind, geothermal and other distributed energy sources on its bases both to reduce their billion-a-year energy bill and to make them less dependent on the commercial electricity grid. Such on-site energy generation, together with energy storage and so-called smart-microgrid technology, would allow a military base to maintain its critical operations “off-grid” for weeks or months if the grid is disrupted.

Benefits Of Using Tactical Gymnastics:
How It Works Tactical gymnastics are like “flow yoga with a purpose.” They help you develop movement efficacy to navigate on, around, over or through obstacles. They have specific purpose. If you consider the 4 Day Wave in TACFIT, you can insert your tactical gymnastics into the low or moderate intensity sessions. It is not possible to perform them with no intensity, like your mobility days; and not advisable to perform them at high intensity due to their complex nature, even if you scale down the complexity to simple movements. You should leave your tactical gymnastics practice smiling, sweaty and sore: a good, deep sweat which allows you to loosen the muscles, lubricate the joints, work out the knots, focus your mind, and decompress your emotions. Most of the martial arts approaches I studied were “sink or swim.”Tactical Gymnastics Testimonials Tactical Gymnastics has a loyal fan-base of 1,000′s of people.
